Spirituality [Hardcover] Two bestselling authors first met in a televised Caltech debate on “the future of God,” one an articulate advocate for spirituality, the other a prominent physicist. This remarkable book is the product of that serendipitous encounter and the contentious—but respectful—clash of worldviews that grew along with their friendship. In War of the Worldviews these two great thinkers battle over the cosmos, evolution and life, the human brain, and God, probing the fundamental questions that define the human experience. How did the universe emerge? This extraordinary book will fascinate millions of readers of science and spirituality alike, as well as anyone who has ever asked themselves: What does it mean that I am alive? “Astrophysicist Sir James Jeans wrote: ‘The Universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine.’ This is the essence of Chopra’s view: that a great consciousness—which we share—is the basis of the Universe and all reality. From Mlodinow’s perspective it is unimaginable that consciousness could be anything more than brain chemistry at work and certainly not something capable of creating a universe. The book presents a lively and articulate debate on this and that most important human question: are we simply complex biological machines destined for oblivion at death... or are we immortal spiritual beings temporarily experiencing reality through physical bodies.”—Bernard Haisch, astrophysicist One of the greatest books on a Spiritual quest by a spiritual seeker is In Search of Secret India by Paul Brunton Here is Len’s review of this classic This book is included in our very select category Books You Can’t Live Without. Not only is Brunton given credit for introducing Ramana Maharshi to the West, but this book stands out, at least in my opinion, as a great classic among all the books ever written by Western seekers who have gone to the East, seeking truth and/or a guru. This is a fantastic chronicle of a spiritual journey. It is also a real “period piece” describing both England and India in an earlier age of greater innocence. Brunton does a perfect job of describing his pursuit and his meetings with many miraculous saints and miracle men. I rank this book right up there with Autobiography of a Yogi, books that everyone, not just seekers, must read and will almost certainly enjoy. If you have not yet read this book, you have a real treat in store for yourself. The Mirror of Relationship: Love, Sex, and Chastity [Paperback] “A comprehensive collection of extracts on the subject of sex and love.” — John Duncan Krishnamurti stressed that relationship is the mirror in which we see ourselves as we are. ‘Topics discussed include the nature of image-making, pleasure and desire, sex, chastity, marriage, and love--When sexual feeling is born out of pleasure it is lust. If it is born out of love it is not lust, even though great delight may then be present.’ In Search of the Light [Hardcover] by Leonard Jacobson National Indie Excellence Book Award Spiritual teacher Leonard Jacobson shares some of the secrets to finding inner joy and happiness in this beautifully illustrated story which helps children to overcome fear and judgment and find that quiet inner place of peace and silence. Come on a journey of discovery with Ned the Horse, Peter Rabbit, Bert the brave little Bumblebee and Molly Mouse as they set off in search of the light. Guided by the wind, our reluctant heroes pass through the forest of fear, eventually finding their way to a land where nothing seems right. Following instructions given to them by several wise characters they meet along the way, they discover a path which leads them straight to the source of the light. When they find what they are searching for, they are so amazed that they laugh and dance with joy and delight. Review by Anna Jedrziewski, New Age Retailer, New York “This gorgeously illustrated and beautifully written story is destined to become a classic in children’s literature. The book’s message is a powerful reminder that the source of love and power is within. I highly recommend this for child and adult alike.” If you are interested in photos of Maharishi etc. info@21stbooks.com
