Special Newsletter • January 31, 2005

Dear Clients,
I picked up a copy of Hot Commodities, by Jim Rogers late on Saturday afternoon. I couldn’t put it down, and finished it on Sunday morning.  I am totally convinced that any and every individual who does any investing must read this book now.  I suggested to Tony that we send out a special newsletter telling our customers about this great new book. We agreed to offer Hot Commodities at a 20% discount.

Rogers makes very compelling arguments and cites impressive data to buttress his conclusions that the secular bull market in stocks ended in the late 90’s, and that a new and powerful secular bull market in commodities began in 1998-1999. He also explains why investing in commodities is something that everyone should do. It cannot be denied that best way to make money is to participate in major secular bull markets.

Rogers explains why commodities investing is not any more risky (in fact he argues it is less risky) than investing in stocks.  His statement at the beginning of his concluding chapter makes perfect sense to me: “If stocks, bonds, and commodities were part of the same family, commodities would be the sibling who never measured up, the black sheep—the brother-in-law, perhaps who got wiped out in soybeans.  Commodities have never gotten the respect they deserve, and it’s been something of a mystery to me why.”

Rogers offers no guarantees. He certainly makes it clear that this is not a hot tip. What he does accomplish is to give enough information and insight to every amateur, novice, and pro so that any individual can set out on a course which will enable him or her to make smart investments in various commodities which are likely to deliver very profitable returns over the next 10 years or so. (Rogers believes the bull market in commodities will last until at least 2015.)

The list price for this book is $25.95.  Our price is $20.75.  You can find it on Amazon listed at $17.13. We hope you will be willing to pay a little extra to us for the services we provide. We can’t match the price at Amazon and remain in business. We continue to believe that if we can accomplish our mission, which is to give our customers advice and insights into reading great and important books, our customers will reward us with their loyalty by purchasing their books from us.

We welcome your comments and feed back. You can click here Hot Commodities to read my complete review. (For those of you who don’t know me and my background, before becoming a principal owner of 21st Century Books I was in the investment banking business for almost 20 years—and since my “retirement” in 1999 I have spent most of my working hours trading stocks, bonds, and commodities—so I do claim to have some expertise in this area of analysis.)
